Climate
Kilimanjaro is a walk-up if you choose the right route and give the body enough nights. It is also a medical event at 5,800 metres. We run it as a trek with porters, a proper cook, and a summit night that starts in the dark whether you slept or not.
Uhuru Peak sits at 5,895 metres on Kibo. You do not need technical climbing on the standard routes. You need slow days, honest guides who turn people around, and a route that is not the four-night Marangu dash. Machame in seven days is our default because the profile climbs high and sleeps lower more than once. Lemosho in eight days is kinder still. Marangu has huts; it is not easier on the lungs.
Park fees, rescue fees and the crew wages are most of the cost. A cheap climb usually means a hungry crew or a short itinerary. We do not sell five-day Machame. If someone else does, ask them what they will do when your head is pounding at Stella Point.
The mountain stands above Moshi and is visible from Arusha on clean days. Most climbers sleep in Moshi the night before Machame or Londorossi. After the descent we push people toward a shower and a beer, then either home or a recovery beach on Nungwi or Paje.
The 7-Day Machame Route is the climb we operate most. The 8-Day Lemosho is what we suggest if you have the extra day and you are not a regular high-altitude walker. Pairing a safari first, then the mountain, is possible; doing the mountain first, then Serengeti, is kinder on the legs.

FAQs
What is the success rate on your Machame climbs?
On seven-day Machame, most of our fit, well-paced groups summit. The people who do not are usually the ones who raced the early camps or hid a medical issue. Guides carry pulse oximeters and they have the last word.
Do I need to train?
Yes. Long hikes with a pack, stairs, and time on your feet. The summit night is 10 to 16 hours. Gym machines without hills are not enough.
Can I fly the same day I descend?
You can. You should not. Knees, dust and a 10 p.m. Kilimanjaro Airport check-in is a miserable combination. Take a buffer night in Moshi or Arusha.
Is 16 too young?
KINAPA allows younger climbers with paperwork. We prefer 16 and up on Machame, and we talk to the parents honestly about summit night.
