Overview
Arusha National Park is just 45 minutes from town, yet it gets far fewer visitors than the bigger parks. You can walk here, canoe here and see colobus monkeys, giraffe and flamingos in the same day.
It is the right choice if you land late, want something different from a game drive, or are getting ready to climb Mount Meru.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day1Ngurdoto, Momella Lakes and a ranger-led walkArusha National Park
Pick-up at about 7:30 a.m. We drive to Ngurdoto viewpoint, then to the Momella Lakes for flamingos and hippos. A ranger joins for a walk near giraffe and buffalo, and canoeing is added when conditions suit.
Picnic lunch by the lakes, a drive through the forest section for blue monkeys and colobus, and back in Arusha by mid-afternoon.

Is the walking safe?
An armed park ranger leads the walk and decides the route. Children over about ten can usually join; tell us their ages when you book.
What time do we start and finish?
We usually collect from your hotel between 7 and 8 a.m. and are back by late afternoon. We confirm the exact times when you book.
What should I bring?
Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, a hat, a light rain jacket and a little cash for tips or souvenirs. We send a short checklist when you book.
Can we change the day or the plan?
Yes. Day trips are private by default, so we can shift the timing or swap stops to suit you. Just tell us early.
