Highlights

Sleep inside the parks in public campsites, where the animals move close at night.

A cook prepares three meals a day, and the vehicle stays with you throughout.

The same wildlife as a lodge safari, at a much lower cost.

Overview

Camping is the best way to cut the price of a Tanzanian safari without losing the parks. You sleep in a tent with a proper mattress, eat well from a mess tent and wake up in the wild.

Public campsites are simple, with shared toilets and cold showers, but the trade-off is being inside the park at dawn. Compare with the lodge-based 5-day northern safari.

Frequently asked questions

How basic is the camping?
Comfortable but simple: a tent with mattress and bedding, shared bathroom blocks and a hot meal from our cook. We provide a full kit list.
Can we change the itinerary?
Yes. Every safari can be adapted: dates, lodges, number of nights and the parks you visit. Tell us what matters and we rebuild the plan.
What is the best time to go?
Wildlife viewing is good all year. The dry season from June to October is easiest for game drives, while the green season has fewer visitors and lower prices.
