Overview
We have put three-year-olds and sixteen-year-olds through the northern circuit. The difference is the vehicle and the clock. This itinerary is the 5-day backbone with an extra Tarangire night and no 4 a.m. punishments. Parks are still dusty. Toilets are still long-drops at picnic sites. We tell parents that before they pack white linen.
If you want the beach after, add the Zanzibar nights from the 9-day safari and Zanzibar rather than inventing a new park. Arusha National Park canoeing is an option on day one if the flight landed early and someone needs a gentle start.
Late start if the kids slept badly. Elephant afternoon, lodge with space to run.

Second night in the same camp so the packing circus happens once. Walk if the camp allows and the youngest is happy.
Day3SerengetiSerengeti National Park
The long transfer, broken with a picnic. Afternoon drive that can be cut short.
Day4SerengetiSerengeti National Park
Full day with a long lunch. We do not chase every radio call across the park.
Day5Crater rimNgorongoro Conservation Area
Exit, rim, fleece, early supper.
Day6Crater and ArushaNgorongoro Conservation Area
Floor in the morning while it is cool. Arusha by afternoon. Hotel or JRO.

Minimum age?
No park law stops a baby, but we would rather you wait until about five for this loop. Infants in arms make the crater a misery for everyone in the car.
Will they see lions?
Likely. We still do not promise. What they will see is elephant, giraffe, a lot of road, and a guide who can turn a dung beetle into a twenty-minute lesson.
